John LUNT

Known as Uncle John to my grandfather Thomas Lunt (b. 1902).

1841 - living at 15 Edge Lane along with his wife and four
eldest children.

1851 - still in Edge Lane with all except youngest two children.

1861 - living at 5 Gascoyne St, West Derby and job given as
carter (ropery) - all except eldest two children living at home.

1871 - living at 9 Gascoyne St, West Derby and working as
carter. Living with son-in-law James Vipond and daughter Mary
and two grandchildren

1881 - living at 11 Rock Street, West Derby with new wife Alice
and daughter Elizabeth Vipond

1908 - living at 16 Tapley Place, West Derby in 1908 (died in
workhouse as these were the only available hospitals for the
poor - West Derby workhouse is now Walton Hospital).

Buried with his daughter Ellen and her husband Thomas Blackmore
and other Blackmores.

ropemaker

1881 - the only John Lunt born in West Derby is aged 40, a car
driver married to Ann from London with children John, Henry and
Richard all 6 or younger

butcher.

Richard LUNT

This Richard Lunt is named Richard Lunt de Lunt on the marriage
entry, as is the father of James Lunt and all other children
listed.

The only other Richard Lunt is the son of Robert Lunt of Lunt
and Elin, baptised 14 April 1650 but he would only be 16 at
marriage.

Another Richard Lunt married Ellen Smarley in Sefton on 20th
June 1666.

Thomas LUNT

The 1851 census includes a Thomas Lunt (48) b. Ford working as
an agricultural labourer in Walton-on-the-Hill, with daughter
Ann (6), scholar.

A Thomas Lunt m. to Ellen had sons John (b,. 22 Oct, chr 21 Nov
1819), George (b 13 Jun, chr 17 Jun 1821) and William (b 6 Dec,
chr 29 Dec 1823) baptised at St Mary's West Derby.

Derby with wife and first four children

daugher Edward and Elizabeth Smith and working as carter.

Somewhere he has GG Grandson called Jim Brown who e-mailed me in
May 1997.

Apparently unmarried.

1881 - working as servant to the Draper family in Priory Road,
Wavertree

1891 - living at 24 Alexander Str, West Derby with her family,
sister Mary and father.


James LUNT

1841 - working as a carter and living at Old Swan with wife and
all children except John. A Mary Blakely aged 2 was living in
the household - why?

1851 - living in Petticoat Lane, West Derby and occupation
given as labourer on the highways. Robert, William, Peter and
Ellen also at home.

1861 - living with son James in Hunt Street, West Derby

1881 - not found


Bryan LUNT

1841 - working as carter and living with parents at Old Swan

1881 - the only Bryan Lunt of about the right age is married to
Sarah with children William and Mary


George LUNT

1841 - working as glassmaker and living with parents at Old
Swan.

Probably married Mary COWLEY, daughter of John, at St Mary, Edge
Hill, Liverpool on 15th Feb 1846

1881 - not found in Lancs


James LUNT

1841 - working as apprentice twinespinner and living with
parents at Old Swan.

1851 - twine spinner living in French Row, Mill Lane, Old Swan

1861 - living at Hunt Street, West Derby and working as twine
spinner with wife, wife's child and father (listed as boarder!)

1881 - most likely a widow in West Derby workhouse (still a
twinespinner)

Old Swan

1881 - possibly a sailor ??
